Ingredients
Meat Sauce
- ½ pound ground beef
- ½ pound ground Italian sausage
- 1 small white onion, diced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes
- ¼ teaspoon salt
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- 32 ounce jar marinara sauce
Cheese Mixture
- 16 ounces ricotta cheese
- 1 egg
- ½ cup grated parmesan cheese
Additional Ingredients
- 3 cups mozzarella cheese
- 10 ounces gluten free lasagna noodles
Instructions
- Prepare the Meat Sauce: In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef, Italian sausage, and diced onion until the meat is browned and the onion is softened. Drain excess grease. Stir in dried oregano, dried basil, red pepper flakes, salt, and black pepper. Add the marinara sauce and simmer for 10 minutes to blend the flavors.
- Mix the Cheese Filling: In a bowl, combine ricotta cheese, egg, and grated parmesan cheese until smooth and well mixed.
- Cook the Noodles: Cook the gluten free lasagna noodles according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water to prevent sticking.
- Assemble the Lasagna: Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a thin layer of meat sauce on the bottom. Layer noodles over the sauce. Spread a portion of the ricotta cheese mixture over the noodles, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese. Repeat layers ending with a generous layer of meat sauce and remaining mozzarella on top.
- Bake: Cover the baking dish with foil and bake in the preheated oven for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden brown.
- Rest and Serve: Let the lasagna rest for 10 minutes after baking to set before cutting and serving.
