Ingredients
Base
- 1/2 homemade gluten free pizza dough (about 445g or 1 lb)
Topping
- 2 tbsp melted butter, salted or unsalted (28g)
- 1 tsp garlic powder or 2 fresh garlic cloves, minced
- 1 tsp Italian Seasoning
- 1 tsp chili flakes (optional)
- 2 cups low moisture mozzarella cheese, grated (225g)
Optional Garnish and Serving
- Fresh herbs
- Parmesan cheese
- Chili flakes
- Marinara or pizza sauce for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven: Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to ensure it is hot enough to bake the breadsticks evenly with a golden crust.
- Prepare the dough: Roll out 1/2 of the homemade gluten free pizza dough on a lightly floured surface to your desired thickness, typically about 1/4 inch thick, forming a rectangular or oval shape.
- Mix butter and seasonings: In a small bowl, combine the melted butter with garlic powder (or minced fresh garlic), Italian seasoning, and optional chili flakes to create a flavorful butter mixture.
- Brush dough with butter mixture: Evenly brush the seasoned melted butter all over the surface of the rolled dough to infuse it with garlic-herb flavor during baking.
- Add mozzarella cheese: Generously sprinkle the grated low moisture mozzarella cheese over the buttered dough, covering the surface evenly for a cheesy topping.
- Bake breadsticks: Place the prepared dough on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and the crust is golden and cooked through.
- Add optional toppings and serve: Remove from oven and optionally sprinkle fresh herbs, extra parmesan cheese, and chili flakes on top for added flavor. Slice into breadsticks and serve warm with marinara or pizza sauce for dipping.
Notes
- Use low moisture mozzarella cheese for best melting results and flavor.
- Adjust garlic amount based on preference—fresh garlic gives a sharper taste than garlic powder.
- You can customize the toppings with your favorite herbs or spice blends.
- For a dairy-free version, use vegan cheese and dairy-free butter alternatives.
- Make sure to preheat the oven fully before baking for an evenly cooked crust.
