Ingredients
Brussels Sprouts
- 1 pound Brussels sprouts, trimmed and halved
Seasoning & Toppings
- 1 tablespoon olive oil or avocado oil
- ¼ cup Parmesan cheese, plus additional for serving
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- ½ teaspoon kosher salt
- ¼ teaspoon pepper
- Fresh parsley, optional
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) to ensure it is hot enough to roast the Brussels sprouts to a crispy texture.
- Prepare Brussels sprouts: Trim the ends of the Brussels sprouts and cut them in half evenly to promote even cooking.
- Toss with oil and seasoning: In a large bowl, combine the halved Brussels sprouts with olive oil, garlic powder, kosher salt, and pepper. Toss well to evenly coat all pieces.
- Add Parmesan cheese: Sprinkle the ¼ cup of Parmesan cheese over the Brussels sprouts and toss again to distribute the cheese throughout.
- Arrange on baking sheet: Spread the Brussels sprouts in a single layer on a baking sheet to allow for even roasting and browning.
- Roast the Brussels sprouts: Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and roast for 20-25 minutes, stirring or shaking the pan halfway through to ensure even cooking and crisp edges.
- Finish and garnish: Remove from the oven when sprouts are tender inside and golden on the edges. Sprinkle additional Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley on top, if desired, before serving.
Notes
- For extra crispiness, make sure to spread Brussels sprouts in a single layer without overcrowding the pan.
- Use freshly grated Parmesan for the best flavor and texture.
- Fresh parsley adds a nice color contrast and freshness but is optional.
- Substitute garlic powder with fresh minced garlic if preferred, adding it before roasting.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days and reheat in an oven or toaster oven to maintain crispness.
