Ingredients
2 cups heavy whipping cream
¼ cup lowfat buttermilk with live cultures
1 cup strawberries, washed, hulled, and sliced
1 cup blueberries, rinsed
2 medium bananas, sliced
1 crisp apple, peeled, cored, and cubed
3 tablespoons sugar
2 teaspoons lemon juice (optional)
Instructions
- Combine heavy cream and buttermilk in a clean jar, cover loosely, and let sit at room temperature for 12–24 hours until thickened. Refrigerate until chilled.
- Place strawberries, blueberries, bananas, and apple cubes in a large bowl.
- Sprinkle with sugar and drizzle with lemon juice, if using.
- Gently toss to coat the fruit.
- Serve topped with a dollop of crème fraiche, or fold crème fraiche into the fruit before serving.
Notes
Store-bought crème fraiche can be used instead of homemade.
Add grapes, pineapple, or kiwi for variety.
Bananas should be added just before serving to prevent browning.
Skip sugar or replace with honey for a lighter version.
Top with shredded coconut, toasted nuts, or a drizzle of honey for extra flavor.
