Ingredients
Ingredients
- 1 knob ginger (3 inches), minced (approx 4 tbsp)
- 2 stalks green onion, sliced
- ½ tsp salt
- ½ tsp seasoning sauce (such as soy sauce or a light soy-based seasoning)
- ½ tsp sesame oil
- ¼ cup neutral oil (vegetable oil or soybean oil preferred)
Instructions
- Prepare the Ginger and Scallions: Mince the fresh 3-inch ginger knob finely to achieve about 4 tablespoons. Slice the green onions thinly to ensure the sauce has a balanced texture and flavor.
- Mix Seasonings and Aromatics: In a mixing bowl, combine the minced ginger, sliced green onions, salt, and seasoning sauce. Stir gently to mix the ingredients evenly.
- Heat the Oil: In a small pan over medium heat, warm the ¼ cup of neutral vegetable or soybean oil until it’s hot but not smoking. Remove from heat.
- Combine the Sauce: Carefully pour the hot oil over the ginger, scallion mixture to release their fragrant aroma and slightly cook the aromatics. Add the sesame oil and stir to incorporate all flavors.
- Serve or Store: Allow the sauce to cool slightly before using it as a topping or dip. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
Notes
- Use fresh ginger and green onions for the best flavor.
- Adjust salt and seasoning sauce to taste, depending on your dietary preferences.
- The neutral oil should have a high smoke point to avoid bitterness (vegetable, soybean, or canola oil works well).
- This sauce pairs excellently with steamed fish, rice, noodles, or grilled meats.
- Store in the fridge and consume within one week for optimal freshness.
