Ingredients
Monkey Bread Dough
- 2 (16-ounce) packages refrigerated biscuit dough
Cinnamon Sugar Coating
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon ground cinnamon
Caramel Sauce
- 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter
- 1 cup packed light brown sugar
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
Other
- Cooking spray
- 1 cup chopped walnuts
Instructions
- Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and generously spray a bundt pan with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
- Prepare the biscuit pieces: Cut each biscuit into quarters to create bite-sized pieces that will form the monkey bread.
- Mix cinnamon sugar: In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon until evenly mixed.
- Coat biscuit pieces: Toss the biscuit quarters in the cinnamon sugar mixture, making sure each piece is thoroughly coated for maximum flavor.
- Layer with nuts: Begin layering the coated biscuit pieces in the prepared bundt pan, sprinkling chopped walnuts between layers to add a delightful crunch.
- Prepare caramel sauce: In a saucepan, melt the salted butter over medium heat. Stir in the packed light brown sugar and continue cooking until the mixture is smooth and bubbly. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour sauce over dough: Carefully pour the caramel sauce evenly over the layered biscuit pieces in the bundt pan, allowing it to seep through and coat the dough.
- Bake the monkey bread: Place the bundt pan in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until the bread is golden brown and cooked through.
- Cool and invert: Allow the monkey bread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then invert it onto a serving plate so the caramel sauce can drizzle over the top.
- Serve warm: Serve the monkey bread warm for the best gooey, sweet experience. Pull apart pieces and enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute walnuts with pecans or leave them out if preferred.
- For an extra indulgent touch, drizzle cream cheese glaze over the cooled monkey bread.
- Ensure the biscuit dough is fresh for the best texture and rise.
- Store leftovers covered at room temperature and reheat gently before serving.
