Skip the store-bought taco seasoning and make your own at home! This easy homemade taco seasoning is a flavorful blend of chili powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic, with the perfect touch of heat from red pepper flakes. It’s customizable and free from preservatives, making it the ideal seasoning for tacos, burritos, and more.

  • Total Time: 2 minutes
  • Yield: Enough for 1 lb of ground meat (2-3 servings)

Ingredients

1 tbsp chili powder

1 tsp ground cumin

1 tsp salt

1/2 tsp paprika

1/4 tsp garlic powder

1/4 tsp onion powder

1/4 tsp dried oregano

1/4 tsp black pepper

Pinch of red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Combine the Spices:

    • In a small bowl, mix together all the spices: chili powder, cumin, salt, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, oregano, black pepper, and red pepper flakes.

  2. Stir Well:

    • Stir the spices until evenly combined. Use a spoon or a whisk to ensure everything is well-mixed.

  3. Store or Use:

    • Use the seasoning immediately for your taco filling, or store it for later use. Transfer it to an airtight container and keep it in a cool, dry place. It will last for several months.

Notes

For 1 lb of ground meat or filling, use about 2-3 tablespoons of taco seasoning.

Adjust the heat level by adding more red pepper flakes or cayenne pepper if you like it spicier.

This seasoning is great for tacos, burritos, fajitas, chili, or even roasted veggies.
