Ingredients
Mousse Base
- 1½ cups heavy whipping cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
Flavoring
- 2 Tablespoons ground instant coffee
- 1½ Tablespoons cocoa powder
Instructions
- Prepare Coffee Mixture: In a small bowl, dissolve the 2 tablespoons of ground instant coffee in a few tablespoons of hot water to create a strong coffee concentrate. Let it cool slightly before using.
- Whip the Cream: In a chilled mixing bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream with vanilla extract. Using a hand or stand mixer, whip the cream until medium to stiff peaks form, ensuring the mousse will have a light and fluffy texture.
- Combine Ingredients: Gently fold the sweetened condensed milk and the coffee mixture into the whipped cream until fully incorporated, taking care not to deflate the whipped cream too much.
- Add Cocoa: Sift the cocoa powder on top of the mousse mixture and gently fold it in until evenly distributed, giving the mousse the signature tiramisu flavor and a subtle chocolate kick.
- Chill the Mousse: Transfer the mousse into serving cups or a large bowl. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the mousse to set properly.
- Serve: Before serving, optionally dust the tops with additional cocoa powder or garnish with shaved chocolate or coffee beans for an elegant finish.
Notes
- Make sure the heavy whipping cream is cold to achieve optimal whipping results.
- The coffee concentrate can be adjusted in strength to suit your taste preference.
- For a more authentic tiramisu flavor, you can add a splash of coffee liqueur to the mixture if desired.
- This mousse can be prepared a day ahead and stored in the refrigerator, making it perfect for entertaining.
- Use good quality cocoa powder for the best chocolate flavor.
