  • Total Time: 30 minutes
  • Yield: 20 flautas (4–6 servings)

Ingredients

1 pound lean ground beef

1 packet mild taco seasoning

1 teaspoon light brown sugar

4 ounces cream cheese, softened

1/2 cup sour cream

1/2 cup salsa

1 cup shredded cheese (any variety)

20 fajita-size flour tortillas

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.

  • Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat, breaking it apart as it cooks, until browned. Drain excess fat.

  • Stir in the taco seasoning and brown sugar. Cook for another 2 minutes to blend the flavors.

  • Lower the heat and add cream cheese, sour cream, and salsa. Stir until smooth and creamy.

  • Remove from heat and mix in shredded cheese until it melts and combines into the filling.

  • Warm the tortillas in the microwave for 15 seconds to make them easier to roll.

  • Spoon 2 tablespoons of the beef mixture onto the center of each tortilla. Roll them tightly, folding in the sides.

  • Place the rolled flautas seam-side down on the baking sheet.

  • Bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden and crispy.

  • Serve immediately with salsa, guacamole, or sour cream for dipping.

Notes

Spicy Version: Add diced jalapeños, hot sauce, or green chilies to the filling for extra heat.

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days.

Freezing: Freeze rolled but unbaked flautas for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen with an extra 5-10 minutes of cook time.

Crispier Flautas: Lightly coat with cooking spray or brush with olive oil before baking.
