Ingredients
Bread and Seasoning
- 1 loaf ciabatta bread (sliced in half lengthwise)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
Sauce and Herbs
- 2 cups marinara sauce
- ½ teaspoon dried basil
- ½ teaspoon dried oregano
Cheeses
- 1 cup freshly grated provolone cheese
- 1 cup freshly grated mozzarella cheese
- ½ cup freshly grated fontina cheese
- ½ cup finely grated parmesan cheese (plus extra for topping)
Toppings
- Mini pepperoni for sprinkling
- Fresh basil and oregano for topping
Instructions
- Preheat and Prepare Bread: Preheat your oven to 425 degrees Fahrenheit. Drizzle the olive oil evenly over the sliced ciabatta bread halves, then sprinkle the garlic powder on top to impart a delicious garlicky flavor.
- Add Sauce and Herbs: Spread the marinara sauce evenly over the oiled bread surface, and then sprinkle the dried basil and oregano over the sauce to infuse an herby aroma.
- Layer the Cheeses and Pepperoni: Combine the provolone, mozzarella, fontina, and parmesan cheeses together. Evenly distribute this cheese mixture over the sauced bread, followed by a generous sprinkling of mini pepperoni slices.
- Bake to Perfection: Place the prepared ciabatta pizza loaf in the oven and bake for 15 to 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, golden, and bubbly, indicating it’s perfectly cooked.
- Finish and Serve: Remove the pizza loaf from the oven, sprinkle extra parmesan and fresh basil and oregano leaves on top for brightness and freshness. Slice into portions and serve hot.
Notes
- Use fresh herbs at the end to preserve their flavor and color.
- Adjust the amount of garlic powder to taste if you prefer a milder or stronger garlic flavor.
- To keep the ciabatta crust crisp, serve immediately after baking.
- You can customize toppings by adding vegetables like bell peppers or olives.
