Ingredients
Brownie Batter
- 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon kosher salt
- 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Holiday Mix-ins
- 1 cup holiday mix-ins (a mix of red & green M&Ms, crushed candy canes, Christmas sprinkles, and white chocolate chunks)
Instructions
- Preheat and prepare pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper for easy removal of the brownies.
- Melt butter and mix dry ingredients: In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter. Once melted, remove from heat and whisk in the granulated sugar, unsweetened cocoa powder, and kosher salt until smooth and combined.
- Add flavorings and eggs: Stir in the pure vanilla extract. Then add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition to create a smooth batter.
- Incorporate flour and chocolate chips: Gradually fold in the all-purpose flour until just combined, careful not to overmix. Gently stir in the chocolate chips to distribute evenly.
- Add holiday mix-ins: Fold in the festive holiday mix-ins, including the red and green M&Ms, crushed candy canes, Christmas sprinkles, and white chocolate chunks, reserving a small handful to sprinkle on top if desired.
- Pour batter and bake: Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it out evenly. Sprinkle the reserved holiday mix-ins over the top for an extra festive look. Bake in the preheated oven for 30–35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Cool and serve: Remove the brownies from the oven and allow them to cool completely in the pan on a wire rack before cutting into squares. Enjoy your festive Christmas brownies with friends and family!
Notes
- For extra fudgy brownies, avoid overbaking and pull them out of the oven when a toothpick shows moist crumbs.
- You can customize the holiday mix-ins according to your preferences or dietary needs.
- Store brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, or refrigerate for extended freshness.
- Use parchment paper lining for easy removal and cleaner slicing.
