Chicken Pillows are a comforting and delicious dish made with tender shredded chicken, cream cheese, and seasonings, all wrapped in buttery crescent dough and topped with a crispy breadcrumb coating. Baked to golden perfection, these fluffy, savory pillows are a quick, satisfying meal that’s perfect for busy weeknights or casual family dinners.

  • Total Time: 30–35 minutes
  • Yield: 4–6 servings

Ingredients

2 tubes (8 oz each) original crescent rolls

2 cans (12.5 oz) canned chicken (or 2 1/2 cups cooked shredded chicken)

1 bar (8 oz) cream cheese, softened

1/4 cup sliced green onions (or more to taste)

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

Breadcrumb Topping:

1/2 cup plain breadcrumbs

1/2 teaspoon garlic powder

1/2 teaspoon dried parsley

1/2 teaspoon Italian seasoning

Instructions

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease or line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

  • In a medium bowl, combine the canned or shredded chicken, softened cream cheese, sliced green onions, garlic powder, and dried parsley. Mix well until combined.

  • Unroll the crescent dough and separate the triangles. Spoon a generous amount of the chicken mixture onto the center of each crescent triangle.

  • Fold the edges of the crescent dough over the filling to form a sealed pillow shape. Pinch seams together to secure the filling.

  • Place the filled crescent rolls on the prepared baking sheet.

  • In a small bowl, mix breadcrumbs, garlic powder, dried parsley, and Italian seasoning. Sprinkle the breadcrumb mixture evenly over the tops of the chicken pillows.

  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden and crispy.

  • Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce or enjoy on its own.

Notes

Variations:

Cheese-filled Chicken Pillows: Add 1/2 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Monterey Jack) to the chicken filling.

Spicy Version: Add diced jalapeños, hot sauce, or red pepper flakes for a spicy twist.

Vegetarian Option: Replace the chicken with spinach, mushrooms, and ricotta cheese for a savory vegetarian version.

Seasoning Adjustments: Customize the seasoning by adding cumin, paprika, or ranch seasoning for extra flavor.

Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Reheating: Reheat in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes or in the microwave for 1-2 minutes, though they may lose crispiness.
