2 cups ziti pasta, cooked (see NOTES)
1 tablespoon extra-virgin olive oil
1 lb ground beef
1/2 teaspoon pepper
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon crushed red chili flakes (optional)
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
2 tablespoons tomato paste
1 onion, chopped
1/2 cup chopped parsley (plus more for garnish)
Salt to taste
2 cups shredded mozzarella
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the ground beef and cook, breaking it up with a spoon, until browned and cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Season with pepper and salt to taste.
- Add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 3-4 minutes.
- Stir in the minced garlic and crushed red chili flakes (if using), and cook for another 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
- Add the Worcestershire sauce and tomato paste to the skillet, stirring to combine. Let it cook for another 2-3 minutes to deepen the flavor.
- Add the cooked ziti pasta to the skillet and toss to coat with the beef mixture.
- Stir in the chopped parsley, ensuring everything is evenly distributed.
- Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella over the top and cover the skillet. Reduce the heat to low and let the cheese melt, about 3-5 minutes.
- Garnish with extra parsley before serving. Enjoy!
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
To reheat, place the pasta skillet over low heat on the stovetop. Add a splash of water or broth to loosen the pasta, or microwave individual portions for 1-2 minutes.
Feel free to swap ziti with other pasta shapes like penne, fusilli, or rotini.
For a creamier texture, add heavy cream or cream cheese before melting the mozzarella.
Vegetarian option: Swap ground beef with a plant-based meat alternative or mushrooms and lentils.
