Ingredients
Sauce and Meat Mixture
- 32 ounces marinara sauce
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 4 garlic cloves, minced
- 1 pound ground turkey (or beef)
- Kosher salt and pepper, to taste
- 8 ounces fresh spinach
Pasta and Cheese Layers
- 24 ounces frozen cheese ravioli (or another variety)
- 8 ounces grated mozzarella or Italian cheeses
- 8 ounces burrata cheese, pulled apart
Toppings
- Freshly grated parmesan cheese, for topping
- Fresh parsley, chopped, for topping
Instructions
- Preheat Oven: Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F (200 degrees C). Reserve 1 cup of marinara sauce from the jar for layering and topping later.
- Prepare Turkey Mixture: Heat olive oil in a nonstick skillet over medium-low heat. Add minced garlic and cook for 30 seconds until fragrant. Add ground turkey along with a good pinch of kosher salt and pepper. Cook, breaking apart the meat, until browned and fully cooked. Stir in the remaining marinara sauce and let it warm up and bubble gently.
- Wilt Spinach: Add fresh spinach to the skillet with the turkey and marinara sauce. Cook for a few minutes until the spinach has wilted. Turn off the heat and set mixture aside.
- Layer Ingredients: In a 9×13 inch baking dish, spread half a cup of the reserved marinara sauce on the bottom. Add a single layer of one-third of the frozen ravioli. Next, spread one-third of the turkey and spinach mixture evenly over the ravioli. Sprinkle one-third of the grated mozzarella or Italian cheese over the layer. Repeat this layering process two more times, ending with the final layer of ravioli and topping layers.
- Top with Cheese and Burrata: Pour the remaining marinara sauce over the final layer. Add any remaining grated cheese evenly on top. Pull apart the burrata cheese and distribute it across the surface to cover the dish evenly.
- Bake: Place the baking dish in the preheated oven. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until the top is golden brown, bubbly, and the cheese is melty and delicious.
- Garnish and Serve: Remove from oven and sprinkle freshly grated parmesan cheese and chopped fresh parsley over the top. Serve hot and enjoy!
Notes
- You can substitute ground beef for the turkey if preferred.
- If fresh spinach is unavailable, frozen spinach (thawed and drained) can be used instead.
- Feel free to use your favorite marinara sauce or homemade version for best flavor.
- For a vegetarian version, omit the ground turkey and add more cheese or vegetables like mushrooms or zucchini.
- This dish can be prepared ahead and refrigerated before baking; just add 5-10 extra minutes to baking time if baking from chilled.
