4 cups water
1 cup sugar
2 cups fresh blackberries
1 cup lemon juice

In a saucepan, combine the water and sugar. Heat gently over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves completely to make a simple syrup. Remove from heat and let cool.

In a blender, puree the fresh blackberries until smooth. Strain through a fine mesh sieve to remove seeds if desired.

In a large pitcher, combine the cooled simple syrup, blackberry puree, and lemon juice. Stir well to combine.

Add additional water to taste, depending on your preferred lemonade strength.

Refrigerate the lemonade until chilled. Serve over ice and garnish with fresh blackberries or lemon slices if desired.
