Ingredients
Pizza Dough
- 5 ½ cups Flour
- 3 teaspoons Granulated sugar
- 2 ½ teaspoons Kosher salt
- 1 ¼ tablespoons Instant yeast
- ¼ cup Olive oil
- 2 cups Water
- 1 teaspoon Vinegar
Garlic Butter Sauce
- 115 g Butter
- 5 cloves Garlic, grated
Assembly
- 4 cups Mozzarella cheese
- ½ teaspoon Chili flakes
- ½ teaspoon Dried basil
Instructions
- Prepare the dough: In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, kosher salt, and instant yeast. Mix well to distribute all dry ingredients evenly.
- Add liquids: Pour in the olive oil, water, and vinegar. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- Knead the dough: Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic. Alternatively, use a stand mixer fitted with a dough hook to knead for 6-7 minutes on medium speed.
- Let dough rise: Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a kitchen towel or plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm place for 1 to 1.5 hours, until it doubles in size.
- Prepare garlic butter sauce: While the dough is rising, melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Add the grated garlic and cook gently for 2-3 minutes until fragrant but not browned. Remove from heat.
- Preheat oven: About 30 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C) and place a pizza stone or baking sheet inside to heat up.
- Shape the dough: Punch down the risen dough and divide it into desired portions (this recipe makes approximately two 12-inch pizzas). On a floured surface, roll out each portion into a thin circular shape.
- Assemble pizza: Transfer the rolled dough onto a piece of parchment paper. Brush the garlic butter sauce generously over the surface. Sprinkle evenly with mozzarella cheese, chili flakes, and dried basil.
- Bake the pizza: Slide the pizza (with parchment) onto the preheated pizza stone or baking sheet. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden and crispy, and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- Serve: Remove the pizza from the oven, let it cool for a couple of minutes, then slice and serve warm.
Notes
- For extra flavor, consider adding fresh basil or oregano on top after baking.
- Use room temperature water to activate yeast properly.
- If you do not have a pizza stone, a heavy baking sheet works as an alternative.
- The garlic butter sauce can be prepared ahead and stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
- Ensure not to burn the garlic when making the sauce; keep the heat low and stir frequently.
