Ingredients
Salmon
- 4 salmon fillets (1 pound total)
Glaze
- 1/4 cup maple syrup
- 2 tablespoons low sodium soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon dijon mustard
- 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Garnish (optional)
- Sliced green onions
Instructions
- Preheat the oven. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and set it aside to prepare for baking the salmon.
- Prepare the glaze. In a measuring cup or small bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, low sodium soy sauce, dijon mustard, smoked paprika, and garlic powder. Pour a few tablespoons of this glaze into a separate small bowl to reserve for later.
- Season and glaze the salmon. Place the salmon fillets on the parchment-lined baking sheet. Pat them dry with paper towels and lightly season with salt. Brush each fillet evenly with half of the prepared glaze to coat the surface.
- Bake the salmon – first phase. Place the baking sheet with the glazed salmon in the preheated oven. Bake for 7 minutes, allowing the glaze to start caramelizing while the salmon cooks gently.
- Glaze and bake again. Remove the salmon from the oven and brush with the remaining glaze. Return it to the oven and bake for an additional 7 minutes or until the internal temperature of the salmon reaches 130°F, ensuring it’s cooked to tender, flaky perfection.
- Finish and serve. Remove the salmon from the oven and drizzle the reserved glaze over the top. Garnish with sliced green onions if desired. Serve the maple glazed salmon with rice or noodles and your favorite vegetable side for a complete meal.
Notes
- Ensure the salmon fillets are of even thickness for even cooking.
- You can adjust the baking time slightly depending on salmon thickness and your preferred doneness.
- Use low sodium soy sauce to control the salt content of the glaze.
- The internal temperature of 130°F ensures moist, medium doneness for salmon; cook longer if you prefer well-done.
- Green onions add a fresh contrast but can be omitted if preferred.
