Ingredients
1 cup strawberries, hulled and finely diced
1 cup blueberries, halved (or left whole if small)
1 medium crisp apple, finely diced
1–2 teaspoons orange zest
1–2 teaspoons fresh orange juice
1–2 teaspoons honey or maple syrup
1 pinch of cinnamon
Instructions
-
Begin by preparing the fruit. Hull and finely dice the strawberries, halve or leave the blueberries whole if they are small, and finely dice the apple.
-
In a medium-sized bowl, combine the strawberries, blueberries, and apple.
-
Add the orange zest, orange juice, and cinnamon to the fruit mixture.
-
Drizzle in the honey or maple syrup and stir gently to combine everything evenly.
-
Taste the salsa and adjust sweetness or citrus to your preference by adding a little more honey, syrup, or orange juice.
-
Let the salsa sit for at least 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld before serving.
Notes
Feel free to add mint or basil for an herbaceous twist.
For a spicy version, include diced jalapeño or a sprinkle of chili powder.
You can swap fruit or use a different sweetener based on your preferences.
Best enjoyed chilled, but can be reheated in the microwave for a few seconds.
